Startup readiness. Up to 95%¹ less water.
High-velocity flushing is a critical step in preparing new data center cooling systems for startup. It helps remove construction debris and supports system readiness before mission-critical infrastructure comes online. As cooling infrastructure scales across both facility water systems and technology cooling systems, the volume of water required for flushing can increase significantly.
Vertiv™ PurgeRite™ NearZero™ uses a closed-loop, high-velocity flushing process that captures, treats, and reuses water on-site. The result is a more efficient flushing process that can reduce the water required, lower discharge volume, and simplify haul-off or municipal drainage requirements.
By reducing the volume of water required, treated, discharged, or hauled off-site, Vertiv™ PurgeRite™ NearZero™ can also help simplify project execution and reduce commissioning-related costs for large-scale cooling infrastructure.

Why Vertiv™ PurgeRite™ NearZero™

How Vertiv™ PurgeRite™ NearZero™ works
Design a project-specific flush plan
Every project begins with a flushing strategy tailored to system design, flow requirements, cleanliness targets, and commissioning objectives.
Capture and treat water on-site
Water used during high-velocity flushing is captured and treated using on-site filtration and reverse osmosis technologies.
Reuse water in a closed-loop process
Instead of relying on a continuous supply of new water, treated water is recirculated throughout the flushing process to reduce the total water required.
Reduce discharge and disposal requirements
By reusing water on-site, Vertiv™ PurgeRite™ NearZero™ helps reduce the volume of water that must be discharged to municipal systems or hauled off-site.
Achieve significant water reduction
The result is a more efficient approach to flushing critical cooling systems that can reduce water required by up to 95%.¹

Advancing hydronic system commissioning through industry research
PurgeRite, a Vertiv company, partnered with ASHRAE on a multi-year research initiative focused on understanding the flow conditions required for effective air purging and debris removal in hydronic piping systems.
The research, published as “ASHRAE RP-1890: Minimum Flow Velocities for Purging Air and Debris from Hydronic Piping Systems”, establishes data-backed guidance for flushing and air-purging practices across a range of pipe sizes, materials, fittings, and system configurations. The cooperative research helps support a stronger technical foundation for system readiness, startup confidence, and long-term performance as cooling infrastructure continues to scale.
Built on proven fluid management expertise
Reducing the water required during commissioning is only one part of preparing data center cooling infrastructure for startup. Vertiv™ PurgeRite™ NearZero™ combines an efficient approach to high-velocity flushing with the expertise, processes, and service capabilities that support mission-critical cooling systems worldwide.
As part of Vertiv’s fluid management services portfolio, the service helps customers prepare facility water systems and technology cooling systems for startup while significantly reducing water required, discharge volume, and haul-off requirements.
Note: 1. Compared with conventional non-recycled flushing methods for facility water systems and technology cooling systems, based on typical system volume requirements and documented project data. Actual results vary by system design, water quality, cleanliness requirements, site conditions, and system type.
