The Vertiv™ EnergyCore Grid factory-integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) is designed to accelerate data center interconnection, support AI power demands, and strengthen grid resilience.
COLUMBUS, Ohio [December 03, 2025] – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, today announced the Vertiv™ EnergyCore Grid, a modular, utility-grade battery energy storage system (BESS) now available in North America. Designed for data centers, education, and large commercial and industrial facilities, the Vertiv EnergyCore Grid delivers reliable, scalable energy storage that strengthens power resilience and accelerates interconnection in grid-constrained environments.
Built for large-scale, grid-interactive applications, the Vertiv EnergyCore Grid integrates lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, a power conversion system (PCS), and energy management system (EMS) controls within a factory-integrated, modular design. This configuration enables fast deployment and flexible performance across a range of use cases, from 1 MW to more than 200 MW, while supporting functions such as peak-demand optimization, load shifting, black-start operation, and ancillary grid services.
With rising demand for AI and high-density computing increasing power consumption worldwide, the Vertiv EnergyCore Grid provides a faster, more flexible path to expand available capacity without waiting for costly utility upgrades. Its skid-based architecture simplifies installation and commissioning, while its integrated controls and modular form factor bring repeatability and scalability to complex energy storage projects.
“With datacenters needing more power to support AI growth, getting a grid interconnection has unfortunately never been more difficult,” said Chris Thompson, global vice president of microgrid solutions at Vertiv. “The Vertiv EnergyCore Grid enables datacenters to provide grid flexibility as well as critical grid ancillary services. This accelerates grid interconnection in an environment where time to first token is paramount.”
Vertiv designed the Vertiv EnergyCore Grid with UL 1973-listed and UL 9540A-tested battery systems and a liquid-cooled, IP55-rated outdoor enclosure to deliver safety and performance in demanding conditions.
The system’s factory-integrated EMS provides real-time visibility and control of distributed energy resources (DERs), enabling intelligent dispatch, market participation, and seamless integration with renewable sources.
Vertiv™ EnergyCore Grid expands Vertiv’s grid to chip portfolio, complementing technologies such as Vertiv™ Trinergy uninterruptible power supply (UPS), Vertiv™ DynaFlex energy systems, and Vertiv™ EnergyCore Li-ion cabinets. Together, these solutions support Vertiv™ 360AI initiatives, enabling customers to build resilient, efficient, and future-ready digital power ecosystems.
