Your data center's cooling system is only as reliable as the pipe it runs through. Hydronic piping systems carry construction debris, mill scale, oils, and rust particulates at commissioning. Left unaddressed, these contaminants threaten equipment performance, efficiency, and the long-term life expectancy of your mechanical infrastructure.
In this session, Russell Buras, Vice President, PurgeRite™ (a Vertiv™ company), walks you through the complete mechanical flushing and purging process, from high-velocity debris removal and chemical passivation to final rinse and post-flush documentation. We also cover Vertiv™ PurgeRite™ NearZero™, our closed-loop water management solution that recycles flush water on-site, lowering total discharge to an estimated 1.2 times the system volume and helping eliminate the cost and complexity of large-scale wastewater haul-off.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Understand why mechanical flushing is critical to cooling system performance and energy efficiency, and what happens when it is not done correctly.
- Walk through the three phases of the flush process: High-velocity debris removal, chemical passivation, and final bleed-and-feed rinse to a clean, service-ready system.
- Identify the key components of an engineered flush plan: Pump power, flow group balancing, manifold connections, heat mitigation, makeup water sourcing, and discharge management.
