Diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) is more than an initiative; it’s woven into everything we do as an organization. Whether we’re talking about engineering, finance, innovation or any role in between, as VP Global Talent Management, it is my goal to help ensure we seek out unique voices and perspectives as possible contributors.
At Vertiv, we believe having a workforce diverse in age, gender, race and background strengthens our ability to overcome today’s challenges and exceed expectations for all our stakeholders. Vertiv has worked hard to help close the gender gap in our industry with initiatives like our Women at Vertiv Excel (WAVE) employee resource group, which gives women and supporters within the organization an opportunity to meet, network and hear from internal and external speakers on a wide range of topics.
It's encouraging to see the tech and data center industries focusing more on DE&I initiatives, and we’re excited to see many of our associates take action in this regard. Specifically, we’re proud to announce that two members of our team were included on CRN’s 2023 Inclusive Channel Leaders Awards list for their efforts in bolstering diversity and inclusivity within the IT channel. Initiatives like these are good for the industry, and the Vertiv winners serve as inspiration for the entire Vertiv organization.
Improving IT Channel Diversity Across the Globe
Saida Ortiz, channel director, Latin America, was recognized for her participation in a LATAM initiative to mentor women leaders at Vertiv, as well as taking part in the company’s LATAM equity and inclusion committee, which amplifies and empowers women across the organization. Saida continues to assist with improving inclusive language initiatives within Vertiv and collaborating with educational entities to attract women to the STEM world, all with the goal of bringing more diversity to the organization.
Alex Johnson, director, national channel accounts, helped promote and ensure inclusivity through each level of the recruitment process for hiring members of the channel team. His efforts led to the creation of one of the most diverse teams within the organization. As a leader, Alex helped establish stronger communication between the members of his team so they would become well-versed on the backgrounds and experiences of their colleagues. These efforts help to eliminate unspoken barriers and biases and promote more empathetic interactions and more powerful.
The recent achievements of our channel leaders like Saida and Alex are a testament to Vertiv’s strong commitment to offering a seat at the table for everyone with the talent and passion for working in our industry. We will continue to amplify the voices of diverse groups who help bring meaningful change to our organization and our industry. We do this while also seeking out ways to get involved with our local community through events like STEM Day that highlight the ways in which the exciting world of technology requires all walks of life to move itself forward.
