Release Notes PowerIT rPDU DSView Plug-In

We are pleased to announce firmware version 7.2.1 for Vertiv PowerIT Upgradeable (GU) PDUs and Rack Transfer Switches (RTS) equipped with IMD-5M

Features and Enhancements:

This release includes the following features and enhancements:

  • Multi-Feed (Mosaic/APEX PDU) Support:
    • Added a new Feed object to manage 1–8 power feeds from a single IMD-5M, with per-feed totals (energy, CO2, RCM) and state across the GUI, API, Modbus, SNMP, and Redfish.
    • HMI will only show administrative functions and Alarms in the Multi-Feed unit.
    • Shunt trip is supported through Modbus if applicable.
  • Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP):
    • Factory and Factory-reset IMD-5M units can pull a JSON configuration file via DHCP-directed TFTP to bulk-apply system, network, and user settings.
    • Syslog reports successful, unsuccessful, and skipped configuration line counts after a ZTP apply.
  • Enhanced Logging:
    • Authentication events log user, source (LDAP, TACACS+, RADIUS, Local), failure reason, and login/logout timestamps.
    • System Configuration Change events log network, NAC, 802.1X, password, SMTP, and sensor connect/disconnect changes.
  • HMI Read-Only Mode by Default:
    • On first upgrade to 7.2.0, the local HMI defaults to Read-Only until Read-Write mode is enabled from the web Display page.
  • Security and Component Updates:
    • Library updates and RTS 1.14 component firmware bundled with this release.
  • RSTP Convergence:
    • Improved Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) convergence on MRIC-RP when connected to managed network switches.
    • Firmware Update Reliability:
    • Resolved an issue where users or network settings could be lost after firmware update.
  • Defect Fixes and Reliability Improvements:
    • TACACS+ scoped users are correctly restricted based on remote authentication attributes.
    • Administrator remote-authenticated users are no longer incorrectly scope-restricted.
    • Pinhole full reset issues resolved

Additional Notes

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Immediately following system startup, this firmware may update the internal rack PDU and/or RTS components, which can take up to 30 minutes to complete, depending on the device model and prior firmware version. During this time, a Component Update in Progress
message displays. Please ensure the rack PDU or RTS is not reset or powered off during this process. If the PDU or RTS is powered off during the process, the firmware update must be reinstalled to re-run the component update.
