If you are like many of the data center and IT managers I have talked to, deploying a new rack - or new equipment in an existing rack – can be a tricky or frustrating experience. Planning is critical to ensure servers and other equipment plug types are supported by the rack power distribution unit (rPDU).
At best, it requires a chess-like strategy to ensure you order rPDUs that will accommodate the mix and number of different plugs for the planned equipment. At worst, you find a surprise change in the rack equipment, meaning the rPDU has the wrong type or quantity of outlets – so you have to go back to procurement or to your parts inventory to find an rPDU matching your new configuration.
Vertiv listened to the frustrated IT and data center managers, and in March of 2020 launched a solution: an rPDU that accepts the most common plug types (C14 and C20) in a single strip, in any combination. Our engineers designed the Vertiv Geist rPDU with Combination Outlet with some very convenient features:
- Any C14 or C20 plug will fit in any receptacle on the strip
- Color coded receptacles allow you to easily differentiate by circuit
- High-retention receptacles keep the plugs in place – you can feel secure using the cord provided by your equipment manufacturer
- They are available with P-locks so the plugs stay where you put them (just make sure you use P-lock cords)
- They work with Vertiv™ Geist™ Upgradeable Basic, Metered and Unit-Level Monitored rPDUs, and Geist™ UPDU models
- ULListed, CE Marked, and RoHS Compliant
- All models are available through your local Vertiv representative
We are happy to announce we now also have models available for immediate shipment through
Tech Data, Ingram Micro, D&H and Synnex!
Our team is focused on bringing solutions that will make your life easier, from an upgradeable PDU to universal input power, and now to universal output power. We understand every application has different requirements, so we also have a convenient rPDU finder tool to make the selection process as painless as possible.
Regardless of whether you are in charge of colocation, enterprise, or edge sites, a solution like the rPDU with the Combination Outlet can enable you to get up and running faster – and with fewer headaches. Contact Vertiv for more information.
