Vertiv Introduces New Scalable Inverter
System that Saves Space and Minimizes
Energy Loss for Edge, Core and Access
Site Applications in the Americas

October 30, 2023

Vertiv™ NetSure™ Inverter System powers AC loads in a compact footprint with zero transfer time from grid to battery

Columbus, Ohio [October 30, 2023] – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, today introduced new models of the Vertiv™ NetSure™ Inverter System, scalable, modular, inverters that save space and improve reliability for DC-based applications. The new NetSure™ Integrated Inverter model is a single sub-rack with a common battery bank that powers both AC and DC loads. The Netsure™ Stand-Alone model provides AC output from an existing DC power system and batteries. The inverter systems are designed for DC applications requiring AC output for applications, often Information and Communications Technology (ICT) telecom sites that include servers, switches, routers, firewalls, lighting, and security systems. The new models are available today in the Americas with 120 VAC output.

Telecom site challenges typically include limited space, critical availability, and the need for high efficiency. The NetSure Inverter System addresses all of these issues: compact systems and use of a common battery bank minimize required footprint; zero transfer time from grid to battery contributes to reliable operation; and inverter modules that operate at up to 95.2% efficiency, reducing costly electricity bills and emissions of greenhouse gasses.

The fully integrated NetSure Integrated Inverter System provides DC and AC power from a common platform using a single control unit, eliminating the need for separate controllers for the DC power system and the inverter. This system includes AC and DC distribution, Vertiv™ eSure™ rectifiers and inverters, and a shared battery bank. Working in concert, the system provides zero transfer time between AC mains and DC battery sources, delivering reliable backup for critical loads from 5kVA to 12kVA. The Vertiv™ NetSure™ Control Unit monitors both AC inverters and DC rectifiers, requiring no investment in additional controls, while eliminating the space required for separate systems and batteries, and reducing the need for separate maintenance programs for the traditional configuration. By providing clear visibility into both AC and DC loads, it enables more accurate capacity planning and management, and maximum availability.

The Vertiv™ NetSure™ Stand-Alone Inverter System leverages a site’s existing DC power infrastructure and batteries, supporting critical AC loads from 5kVA to 24kVA, and maximizing site availability with zero transfer time from grid to battery. The Vertiv™ NetSure™ eSure™ inverters may be managed locally or remotely with the NetSure™ Control Unit.

Both NetSure™ Inverter Systems are available in 19” or 23” mounting widths. Energy efficiencies are up to 95.2% across a wide operating range, and inverter power densities are market-leading in its class at 19VA/in3.

“As technology adoption expands and mobile devices are increasingly a lifeline for personal and business activities, more computing is introduced into traditional DC-powered environments, including access sites and edge deployments. The need to reliably and efficiently manage both AC and DC loads increases,” said Henrik Nilén, director of global DC power offerings for Vertiv. “With a single battery bank supporting both AC and DC loads and market-leading inverter power density in its class, the NetSure Inverter System is designed to optimize space and enable outstanding site availability.”

Vertiv has a long history in both AC and DC power, with broad portfolios of AC-powered IT infrastructure solutions and DC-powered telecom infrastructure solutions. That deep expertise was critical to the development of the NetSure Inverter Series. Vertiv™ DC Power Services engineering, installation, project management, and maintenance teams are available to support all DC power applications, regardless of manufacturer.
