November, during the EMEA Press Event 2024,Vertiv unveiled the renewed High-Density Showroom at Bologna’s Power Customer Experience Center. Designed to address the evolving needs of modern data centers, it highlights solutions for AI-driven variable loads and increasing IT infrastructure densification, demonstrating the technologies Vertiv brings to its customers.
The solutions showcase a range from traditional setups to the latest innovations, addressing the rising demands of high-performance computing data centers and the growing need for high-density infrastructure to support advanced loads.Vertiv designed a showroom to offer an immersive experience and reimagined it for the 800 plus customers that visit the facility every year from over 50 countries. To enhance engagement, every product now features a QR code, providing instant access to specifications and insights.

Power solutions for high-density needs

As server computing power increases, so do power and cooling demands. Vertiv’s solutions showcase includes innovative Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) designed to manage higher rack densities. Featured products include:
Vertiv™ Trinergy™: a high-capacity UPS designed for reliability and resilience, suitable for the rigorous demands of large-scale applications like AI. It effectively manages rapid load fluctuations without compromising performance, delivering continuous operation.
Vertiv™ Liebert® APM2: an in-row modular UPS, seamlessly fitting within rack configurations, offering high flexibility and ease of deployment.
Vertiv™ Edge: a single-phase UPS that provides reliable power protection in a compact design, featuring advanced energy-saving capabilities and flexible deployment options for edge computing environments.

In addition to UPS units, the showroom includes Vertiv™ RXA, a compact remote power panel designed to manage high-density power loads in limited space environments. It offers integrated monitoring, providing flexible and reliable power distribution to critical IT equipment. Its space-saving design makes it ideal for deployment alongside racks like the Vertiv™ Knuerr DCM within the Vertiv™ SmartAisle™, where maximizing available space is essential for optimal performance.
All these products and many more can be experienced and tested with the support of Vertiv experts in the Witness Test Area and in the Vertiv Academy, where more than 400 training sessions are held per year. These areas have been the pillars of the Customer Experience Center in Bologna for many years.

Advanced cooling technologies for modern data centers

In addition to the power solutions for AI-driven environments, which are the main focus of Bologna Customer Experience Center, there is a dedicated area featuring AI-driven thermal management technology. This section includes advanced liquid cooling units, allowing clients to explore our comprehensive Vertiv portfolio.
Liquid cooling plays a crucial role in managing the off-the-charts heat generated by HPC IT loads. In fact, liquid cooling can be up to 3,000 times more effective than traditional air cooling: it cuts costs, fits more compute capacity into less space, and increases energy efficiency by up to 15 percent.
The Bologna showroom features Vertiv™ CoolChip CDU liquid cooling solutions, available in both liquid-to-liquid and liquid-to-air configurations and in perimetral / in-row and in-rack designs. These systems provide efficient cooling by circulating coolant directly to heat sources, enabling precise temperature control for the most demanding, data-intensive loads.
The showroom also includes in-row air-cooling options, such as the Vertiv™ Liebert® CRV, a compact, scalable system providing localized cooling with adjustable airflow and independent temperature controls, ideal for high-density environments and edge applications.
Not far from our Power CEC, the Vertiv Thermal Management Customer Experience Center in Tognana offers an interactive, hands-on experience with advanced thermal solutions, allowing visitors to see innovation in action.
Integrated and modular solutions for scalability and easy deployment
Optimizing data centers for efficiency and reliability is key. Vertiv’s modular solutions simplify deployment, improve visibility, and enhance energy efficiency. In our showroom customers can explore solutions like ™ a compact, all-in-one micro data center, designed for space optimization and efficiency. It comes pre-integrated with power, cooling and monitoring systems for easy deployment with minimal set-up. Also featured is an integrated row-based system combining racks, power, cooling, aisle containment and monitoring to enhance operational efficiency.
Monitoring and Services boosted by AI
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning boosting monitoring capabilities is another highlight of the showroom. Service solutions like Vertiv™ Next Predict and Vertiv™ Next Response rely on AI-driven analytics and enable new, tailored maintenance plans and faster response times respectively, maximizing system performance and reliability. Vertiv’s services now include digital capabilities, allowing customers to proactively manage and maintain their critical systems.

To enhance our customers’ experience, a Virtual Reality simulation allows visitors to step inside a data center, where they can see Vertiv’s products operating in their environment.
Additionally, among the latest additions, a glass floor section provides a visual representation of the cooling infrastructure, including an illuminated simulation of the liquid cooling. Blue and red lighting dynamically illustrates how hot and cold liquid flow through the cooling pipes, distributing them in and out of the servers in the rack though the manifold.

Originally launched in 2013, the Power Costumer Experience Center has been a hub of continuous innovation. In 2020, it was expanded to enhance testing capabilities and provide clients with greater flexibility, efficiency and support for increasingly complex infrastructure requirements.
Today, the Vertiv Power Customer Experience Center provides customers with a fully equipped Witness Test Area featuring 7 testing stations with a total capacity of 12 MW, including 6 MW for simultaneous power testing. Customers can choose from four validation experiences: live product demos, standard compliance tests, customized sessions for specific technical needs, and the latest AI load simulator, which enables real-world testing of variable AI loads. Each year, Vertiv’s team conducts over 150 witness tests on more than 400 Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), delivering reliability and performance tailored to customer requirements.
