The appointment signals the company’s strategic expansion into Japan, a key high-growth and technology-driven market in Asia.
TOKYO, JAPAN [June 18, 2025] – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Ken Kurahashi as sales director and country head of Vertiv in Japan. His appointment marks a significant milestone as Vertiv establishes a strategic presence in one of Asia’s fastest-growing and most technologically advanced markets.
Vertiv’s entry into Japan comes at a time when the country’s data center market is experiencing significant growth, driven by increased demands from cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), outsourcing, and data onshoring and repatriation. In 2024, data center development under-construction and planned in Greater Tokyo expanded by 29% to 1.8GW, and operational capacity grew by 11%. This increasing demand for reliable critical digital infrastructure creates a compelling opportunity for Vertiv solutions.

Vertiv will be bringing its full suite of IT infrastructure solutions, from power protection to thermal management, integrated solutions and IT systems and services. With a direct presence in Japan, Vertiv will be able to better serve customers and strategic partners looking to meet their critical digital infrastructure needs.
“Japan represents a critical pillar of Vertiv’s long-term growth strategy in Asia,” said Paul Churchill, vice president and general manager at Vertiv in Asia. “With the data center market projected to expand at about 10-20% annually, establishing a direct presence in Japan will allow us to better support our regional and local customers, meet rising demand for digital infrastructure.”
“With Ken’s proven leadership and market expertise, we are confident that he will be able to establish a strong foundation in this highly sophisticated market and meaningfully contribute to the country’s rapid digital transformation,” he added.
As head of the Japan business, Kurahashi will lead a team of sales, service and administrative staff with a focus on scaling and strengthening the company’s presence in the country, working closely with key customers across diverse industries to bring the company’s full suite of solutions and develop a robust local presence.
“The surge in digital and AI-led innovation marks a pivotal moment in Vertiv’s growth journey,” said Kurahashi. “Japan’s dynamic technology landscape and strong focus on resilience and innovation make it an ideal environment for Vertiv’s solutions. With the growing demand for digital infrastructure, I look forward to creating strategic alliances that bring Vertiv’s solutions and long-term benefits to customers and communities alike.”
An industry veteran, Kurahashi brings with him a wealth of leadership and sales experience across global and regional enterprises. Prior to joining Vertiv, he served as country head at Honeywell Japan Inc., and was head of sales and senior director at Japan Computer Vision Corp., a SoftBank Group company. Kurahashi holds a Global MBA with distinction from Alliance Manchester Business School.
