Release Notes Geist rPDU DSView Plug-In

We are pleased to announce firmware version 5.8.0 for Vertiv Geist Upgradeable (GU) and R-Series rack PDUs. This firmware release is compatible with GU rack PDUs equipped with IMD models 3E, 03E, 3E-S or 03E-S, and RSeries rack PDUs which are currently running firmware versions 5.0 and newer.

Enhancements:

  • Added rack PDU outlet access control. Individual users can be assigned a scope which restricts access to selected rack PDU outlets only.
  • Added provisioner functionality. A user can discover locally connected rack PDUs, update their firmware and configure system settings by uploading a configuration settings file. This functionality can provision:
    • GU PDUs running 3.x.x or 5.x.x firmware (IMD models 02, 02E, 3E, 03E, 3E-S and 03E-S)
    • R-Series rack PDUs running 5.x.x firmware
    • Factory fresh or previously configured rack PDUs
    • Rack PDUs connected directly to the local network or connected as part of a Vertiv Intelligence Director (aggregation) network
    • All or selected discovered rack PDUs

Notes:

  • Deleting a Scope which is assigned to a user results in that user gaining access to all rack PDU outlets.
  • The provisioner is only able to configure settings under the System menu. Refer to the rack PDU Installer/User Guide for further information.
  • Uploading a firmware or configuration file to the provisioner without specifying a name results in the name being set to firmware.out and config.json respectively.
