Breaking Barriers:
Women in Tech at Vertiv

The tech sector consistently ranks as one of the industries with the most underrepresented female workforce. While progress is happening, women remain underrepresented in STEM roles and leadership positions.

The State of Gender Representation in Tech

According to UNESCO statistics, women are particularly under-represented in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education as they make up only 35% of STEM graduates, a figure that has remained unchanged in the past ten years – and consequently, in STEM careers. This gender disparity is alarming, especially as STEM careers are often referred to as the jobs of the future, driving innovation, social well-being, inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Women are still a minority both in leadership and in technical roles. Despite discussions around diversity, the numbers show that progress is slow. Only by providing equitable opportunities for women and girls to participate in the digital and tech economy we can unleash their full potential.

On 8 March 2025, the UN celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” This theme reminds us that equality isn’t just about representation—it’s about creating real opportunities for women to succeed and lead.

At Vertiv we know that real change takes continuous effort, so we strive to create a more inclusive workplace and support women in advancing their careers by providing them real careers opportunities, programs, and guidance.

Empowering Women in Tech: Perspectives from Europe, Middle East and Africa

Read the stories and advice directly from some of Vertiv’s female professionals in EMEA as they share their career journeys, the challenges they've faced, and the support that has fueled their growth. These stories showcase the determination, expertise, and collaboration driving meaningful change in our industry and beyond.

Though the road to equality is still long, every step forward makes a difference. On this International Women’s Day, we honor the unique strengths women bring to our organization, the diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, varied experiences, and backgrounds that fuel our success and help us grow as a company.

Having been in male-dominated environments since high school, including being the only woman in my Electrical Engineering course, I never felt my gender was an obstacle. I believe I earned my colleagues' trust by being organized, honest, human and supportive. Some might see these traits as weaknesses, but as women we should embrace them and lift each other up. My female colleagues inspire me every day with their competence and kindness.

I consider myself fortunate: life in Vertiv is never boring, but amid the challenges and priorities, there's always someone to laugh and confide with, whether men or women. One of my best friends here taught me that we must surround ourselves with positive people by being the first ones to shine brightly for others.

Since I started my career at Vertiv three years ago, I’ve grown alongside the E&I acquisition—an experience both challenging and transformative. My passion for STEM began with a 1st class Honors Degree in Renewable Energy Engineering, fueling my curiosity about electrical infrastructure’s role in a sustainable future.

Every day, I push boundaries, embrace challenges, and advocate for women in STEM. I have worked with many females in my time, seeing women excel and progress in their roles, a clear indicator to me that Vertiv values and respects our input in the workplace. I am the only female representative part of the Employee Forum where we meet as a team to discuss working at Vertiv. I take my role seriously and I am proud to deliver messages on behalf of female wellbeing in the workplace. I have always felt appreciated and that my voice is heard and honored. In turn, my confidence has grown and as a female in STEM, I’ve been empowered to learn, lead, and inspire—proving that when we work together, anything is possible.

Being a woman in logistics at Vertiv has been an empowering and transformative journey. This field demands both precision and adaptability, and I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with incredible teams who help make our operations seamless, feeling empowered to act like a leader and tackle complex challenges in logistics.

One of my proudest moments was playing a key role in shipping and delivering prefabricated modular solutions and accessories in Nigeria—one of Vertiv’s major projects in West Africa. Witnessing the impact of my work firsthand has been truly inspiring! I am proud of my accomplishments, particularly my contributions and privileges to support others where we successfully managed the optimization of Vertiv’s supply chain to enhance delivery efficiency across Nigeria and Central Africa.

Growing up in a household with my two engineer brothers greatly influenced my interests as a child. Screws, nuts, screwdrivers, servo motors, and other technical components were common accessories on our living room table. This early exposure sparked my curiosity and passion for engineering. Now as an AC Power Application Engineer, my role requires strong collaboration skills and communication with almost every department. While women often face unique challenges in male-dominated fields, there are many ways to take a strong stance and recognize our potential. The advantages of being a woman in a technical field go beyond technical knowledge and skills.

In my experience, men and women in engineering often focus on different aspects—men tend to lean towards the technical side, while women emphasize problem-solving and social impact. By embracing these strengths, women contribute not only to their own personal growth but also to the STEM sector, making it more inclusive, innovative, and efficient.
