Vertiv™ MPL Lithium-Ion Battery provides the benefits of lithium-ion to Vertiv™ Liebert® ITA2 uninterruptible power supply systems, bolsters Vertiv’s lithium-ion product portfolio
Columbus, Ohio [July 17, 2023] – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, today announced the release of its Vertiv™ MPL Lithium-Ion Battery, an external battery that allows the user to convert their existing VRLA-based Vertiv™ uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system to a lithiuim-ion system. The Vertiv MPL Lithium-Ion Battery is currently compatible with installed Liebert® ITA2 UPS systems using valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries, providing the benefits of lithium-ion without the need to replace the UPS. The Vertiv MPL Lithiuim-Ion Battery is available in 208V versions in Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.
Compared to VRLA batteries, the Vertiv MPL Lithium-Ion Battery has a life up to three times longer, reducing costs related to replacements and maintenance and offering a lower total cost of ownership. Less than half the size and weight of VRLA equivalents, the lithium-ion option is ideal for small spaces, with 1U and 2U sizes that provide the runtime capabilities and reliability needed for most standard edge applications. Up to eight batteries may be added to each supported Vertiv™ UPS, with battery run-time based on system capacity, connected load and number of battery modules.
A local Vertiv™ Services representative will make the physical and firmware changes that allow the UPS to operate with the Vertiv MPL Lithium-Ion battery. This representative will also install the batteries in rackmount or tower configuration and remove and dispose of the VRLA battery that previously supported the UPS. Optional startup service is also available. The Vertiv MPL is covered by a limited 5-year warranty.
