Rachel Thompson

Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development

Rachel Thompson was named as Vertiv’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development in 2025, and continues as Chief of Staff. She is responsible for company-wide strategic planning, deployment, and execution processes that align the business direction with market opportunities and customer needs. In combination, Rachel also oversees marketing, where she is driving functional strategy, positioning, growth path enablement, and communications. 

Rachel has more than 20 years of experience in strategy, product leadership, and highly cross-functional processes within global companies. Since joining Vertiv in 2019, Rachel has held the Director (2019–2022), Senior Director (2022–2023), and Vice President (2023–2025) of Corporate Strategy & Planning roles, where she established strategic processes, operating cadence, completed breakthrough organic and inorganic investments, and led transformational programs. 

Prior to her experience at Vertiv, Rachel was Vice President, International Golf & Turf for Textron Specialized Vehicles (2016–2019). At Jacobsen, a Textron Company, she held roles in Global Product Management & Strategy (2015–2016), Advanced Design & Technology (2014–2015), and served as Product Manager (2011 to 2014). At Doosan Infracore (2007–2011) Rachel was a Product Marketing Manager, where she led product strategy, pricing, and global planning for lighting systems and compaction equipment. 

Rachel started her career at Ingersoll Rand, where she was part of the company’s Leadership Development Program and held roles as a Lean Operations Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineer (2003-2004), Marketing Communications & Process Implementation (2004-2005), and Channel & Acquisition Integration Specialist (2005-2006). She later served as a Dealer Development & Relations Specialist (2006-2007). 

Rachel graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Tech in Industrial & Systems Engineering and completed executive business and strategy education programs at Duke University – The Fuqua School of Business and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
