Companies target small-to-mid-market partners with Avocent products and solutions

SYDNEY, Australia [August 20, 2020] – Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, today announced it has expanded its Australia distribution agreement with Tech Data, giving the distributor sole access to Vertiv’s Avocent® data centre products and solutions.

The agreement makes Tech Data Vertiv’s exclusive IT distributor in Australia. It follows Tech Data’s initial local appointment in March to offer the complete Vertiv portfolio, an extension of the companies’ successful partnership in the United States.

The Avocent line includes switches, serial consoles and other products and solutions that enable single-point access and multi-device control across an organisation’s data centre network. Last year, market intelligence firm IHS Markit ranked Vertiv the number one supplier of remote IT management solutions worldwide in its KVM Switches and Serial Consoles Report 2019.

“Our focus in Australia is the modern data centre, putting us well aligned with Vertiv,” said Pia Broadley, director of vendor alliances, Tech Data Australia and New Zealand. “As businesses have virtualised in recent months, the need for secure control of multiple IT devices across geographies has become paramount and that’s where Avocent offers real value."

With the expanded agreement, Vertiv and Tech Data are aiming to sign small and medium enterprises (SME) – which have traditionally been slower to migrate from legacy IT infrastructure.

“We are seeing an increased focus on modern infrastructure deals through our customers and channel partners. SMEs are acknowledging the importance of networking architecture and secure multi-device control,” said Chris Denis, National IT Channel Manager, Vertiv Australia and New Zealand. “Companies need to build resilience into their architecture to handle both business-as-usual workloads and anticipated spikes, and, long-term growth and unexpected events.”
